Innately Female

I’m reading the book, “The Female Brain,” written by Louann Brizendine, MD. I am inspired by just how INNATE being a female is! We don’t LEARN to be a girl… we are born that way! Acting and thinking like a female is essentially imprinted in our neurology from conception. Take a look at these facts:

Women cry four times faster than men. It is perhaps our innate wisdom serving our needs. It tells our men how we are feeling in no uncertain terms. Biologically men do not read faces well. In fact, men will correctly identify sad facial expressions on women ONLY 40% of the time. (Where as women will identify them correctly 90% of the time.) So in this case, our innate wisdom makes us cry quicker to CLUE IN our men that we are upset. Ladies don’t blame your man for not knowing how you feel – he is biologically not equipped to read your mind or your face.

This one comes to no surprise to moms: Boys are 20 times more aggressive. Their innate brain wiring makes them quick to act, attack and defend. ( It makes men great hunters.) I guess Moms are left to deal with this the best that they can… after all, who can blame little boys who are innately practicing their man stuff.

Research has shown that girls will take turns 20 times more than boys. Girls are wired to get along, keep the peace and make friends. These innate qualities served us many years ago. The ability to communicate, create a circle of friends and be liked increased survival for us and our children. You see, while the cavemen were off hunting, the women were left behind with the children. Women (who are generally smaller and weaker) have a better chance fighting off a wild caveman from another tribe or an animal if they are acting together as a group! So does this explain why women go to the bathroom in groups???

Hey, this is just the tip of the female iceberg… if you are raising a daughter, negotiating the dating scene yourself, or struggling through menopause, you need to know more! Join me on Wednesday night in Pembroke for more interesting facts about the female brain and its ups and downs over our lifetime. With greater understanding of our innate femaleness, we can embrace our crazy hormone days, judge ourselves less and love ourselves a bit more.

Sorry, no guys at this workshop! This Wednesday 6:15-7pm. RSVP a must!
