“To see the world in a grain of sand,
And Heaven in a wildflower
To hold infinity in the palm of your hand,
and eternity in an hour”
-William Blake
I love these poetic words…something about it strikes a deep chord within me. Maybe it’s the idea that potentially everything exists within everything else–that one tiny piece of life can hold the potential for all of life. There’s a subtle whisper in it that reminds me to slow down, open my eyes and truly see the ever-present beauty that constantly surrounds us. Perhaps it’s the notion of unlimited possibilities that exist out there in the world and that exist within ourselves that speaks so deeply to me recently.
Let’s dive into this idea of unlimited possibilities for a moment, specifically the idea of unlimited possibilities within ourselves. You may think I’m crazy, but I truly believe we are wired in our core for the limitless. The biggest drawback is actually believing that we have unlimited potential for things. Scientists have discovered that when you break our DNA and cells down to their basic level, every cell possesses within it the material to express the whole of the human body. (This is how the idea of cloning came to be). This means that a heart cell and liver cell contain the same potential within, the only thing differentiating them is the information that is activated and then expressed. Our bodies are constantly generating new cells as old ones die off, this is how the body repairs and rebuilds. There have been theories thrown around that we can have a whole new body in about 7 years. There’s some truth to this, yet it’s not totally true. Certain cells are replaced on a regular basis while others are not replaced through-out life. The reason I bring this up is to allow people to understand that at any given point your body has the potential to regenerate new parts over time. One example of this is our skin. Our skin cells are constantly being replaced by new ones as old ones die off. Certain organs and other cells have this ability too. Therefore, it’s not that much of a leap to believe that if we find out something is wrong within our body, it could potentially heal with new healthy cells over time….thus the belief that our body can heal itself.
In order for our bodies to heal itself there are a few key things that need to occur. One thing is we need to nourish ourselves with clean, healthy foods. Remember the old saying ‘we are what we eat’? It’s true!! In order to build healthy cells, we need to take in healthy food and fuel. Another thing needed is the proper belief system and attitude. We need to truly believe down to the core of our being that we are capable of becoming healthy and pain free. Maintaining an absolute positive attitude about this is key. One of the most important factors in helping our body to re-generate healthy cells is making sure our nerve system is functioning at it’s best. Since our nerve system is the master control of every function within our body, it makes sense that we would want it working at 100 percent. In order for this to happen, we need to make sure we have our spines checked and adjusted by a chiropractor on a regular basis. When our brain and body is communicating with a clear connection, there is unlimited potential for health and healing to occur.
I very easily could get long-winded discussing the unlimited possibilities we have as these magnificent humans that we are, however I will spare you this time. I do hope that possibly a glimmer of the “infinity that we hold in the palm of our hand” may have creeped into your consciousness. You truly are more of a miracle than anyone has ever given you permission to believe.
