Fall Into Change

So a big weekend concluded last night….you know what I’m talking about: opening weekend of football! On Sunday the Pats handled their business against the Titans (and in the process revealed a legit running back in 2nd year man, Stevan Ridley and a stout new run defense, with two outstanding rookies). The start of football is great, besides the obvious concept of football being awesome, because it signals the start of my favorite season: fall.

My family is a fall family. It is easily our favorite season: apple picking, pumpkin patches, hay rides, leaves falling, and crisp cool air.  I know we all have a tendency to complain in the winter about snow, cold, and ice, but I’d never want to live anywhere without four seasons.  I think four seasons are good for my mental health, but also if I didn’t live in a place with seasons I’d miss having a true, classic sense of autumn.  It’s not really the activities that make me love fall, its the weather that makes it for me.  I love the transition seasons.  You know, the transition seasons play an important role for all of us, in my opinion.  Fall and Spring are both more than bridges between the big dogs that are Summer and Winter.  No, the transition seasons are a great time to hit the reset button on your body and start taking some, new healthy actions, like eating well, moving, or getting checked for subluxation/adjusted.

Perhaps, the action you want to take is doing a cleanse/detox for your body. According to Chinese medicine and Ayurvedic medicine the best times to detox or cleanse your body is within the transitional seasons of Fall and Spring.  It’s the chance, as the year gets busier with school and other activities, to have a clean slate. We live in a excess culture:” too much” is our modus operandi. Too much to do, too much food, too much stress, too much physical inactivity, too much work, too much crammed into 24 hours, too much, too much, too much.  We have come to accept this as normal, which means we have come to accept a toxic, lifestyle-induced, slow death as our norm.  It’s pretty twisted. You were meant for more. You were meant for better.  If you accept this birthright, then you must choose it.  I’m convinced God didn’t intend any of us to be fat, toxic, and dying of malnutrition in an over nourished country.  This is the value of a cleanse.  You get to take an action step to change all this.  The cleanse is empowering, because you are taking back your health.   Our offices use the Standard Process cleanse that is a 21 day process.  The first 10 days you eat mostly veggies, fruits, some brown rice, and nutritional supplements.  At day 11 you can add in some approved lean protein.  People doing the cleanse usually lose weight, but we’ve also see people regain enough health to have their doctors look at them in astonishment, while taking them off their prescriptions.

Want a fresh start, to lose weight, to break the cycle of toxicity, and to take ownership of your health: come join our cleanse.  Both of our offices are holding informational meetings in regard to the cleanse. These meetings are information only.  At the meeting you will watch a video from Standard Process about the cleanse and will have the chance to ask our team questions.  If you’d like to do the cleanse at that point, we can order you a cleanse kit, and we will do it as a group. The group route is great and is more of an “e”group as our office will provide support, recipes, and encouragement via Facebook and email.  Of course, you will also receive in person support as you come to get your adjustments!

I invite you all to join us for the info sessions: in Pembroke, Monday September 24th @ 6:15 and in Meredith, Thursday September 20th @ 6:15.  Please reserve your seat at the front desk of the office site you will be attending: Pembroke 224-4281 and Meredith 677-1444.

I hope to see you all there! Happy Fall, Dr. Graham,  chiropractor
