It’s that time of year again; the air is getting a little cooler, the days are ever so slightly getting a little shorter (I know, I don’t want that to happen either!), and people’s schedules are shifting. Yes, summer is drawing to a close, schools are starting back up and the Fall season is coming upon us. I must admit that Fall is one of my favorite seasons really; I love the cooler temperatures, less humidity, the chillier nights and the beauty that emerges as the leaves change colors…but I diverse. The end of summer/beginning of fall can be a little stressful on people as their schedules change, as the weather changes, and as our daylight diminishes.
Now that schools are back in session that means earlier mornings for many people, whether a teacher, parent or a child. It means mornings can be more of a rushed feeling, days can tend to feel crammed with more schedule changes between school start-times, drop-offs, pick-ups, sport practices, shuttling kids from here to there, running a household in between all that and still managing to work in there too! Whew, I don’t know about you, but I’m exhausted just thinking about all that! Yes, I do not have any kids of my own yet, however I see first-hand how stressful this time of year can get for people; I experience it (vicariously for now) through all of our practice members.
I also see and know that increased stress can decrease our immune systems. When we are running around like chickens with our heads cut-off, not sure if we are coming or going, we tend to neglect our health and ourselves a bit; we may be getting less sleep, not eating as healthy, not eating as often, etc, etc. The combination of tired bodies, increased stress and lowered immune function can result in getting sick. We all know that the fall and winter is when more colds happen and when the flu seems to be abundant; heck we are reminded everywhere of the flu shot! (Don’t get me started on that subject!). This is the perfect time to make sure you are doing your best to take care of your health.
If you are under chiropractic care already, make sure you are making all of your appointments; remember a healthy well adjusted spine means a healthy nerve system which translates into a healthy functioning whole body. If you’re not under chiropractic care yet, this is the perfect time to have your spine checked! This is also the best time to start taking advantage of all our wonderful workshops we offer; we have so much information on ways to help deal with stress, lose weight doing a cleanse and how to boost your immune system naturally that we are unable to share during a regular visit we have created workshops to be able to pass it all along to you and your families and friends. Enjoy this fall season in a happy healthy way!
